Equine internal medicine is the study of the interactions of internal organs and the ability to identify and treat underlying causes of disease in horses.

Internists specialize in the study of diseases related to lungs/airways, urinary system, gastrointestinal system, neurologic system, etc. At MPEH, we offer an array of internal medicine services, including primary evaluation for neonate and adult exams, management of metabolic disease, skin diseases, poor performance, as well as intensive diagnostics for respiratory, neurologic, gastrointestinal, and urinary issues. We are also equipped to offer hospitalization for both ICU and isolation cases, including neonatal/foal intensive care.

  • Workup of Unexplained Weight/Muscle Loss 

  • Non-Surgical Management of Skin Tumors 

  • Intensive Care for Neonates and Adults 

  • Investigation of Non-Lame Poor Performance, Including Dynamic Upper Respiratory

  • Endoscopy for Evaluation of Respiratory Conditions 

  • Endoscopic and Ultrasound Evaluations of Respiratory (Including sinus/Nasal passages),

  • Gastrointestinal, and Urogenital Systems
