Dr. Conklin was born and raised in the small town of Oakwood, Illinois. She grew up around her grandparents' Quarter Horses and later started riding Arabians. She worked at a trail barn in her local state park where she acquired her now 29-year-old Quarter Horse, Jonah. She attended William Woods University in Missouri for her undergraduate studies and completed veterinary school at the University of Illinois. Dr. Conklin takes a special interest in equine emergency medicine and client education. In her free time, Dr. Conklin enjoys running, hiking, and traveling.
