Dr. Craven has had an interest in veterinary medicine since she was very young. She grew up in a family full of animal lovers, riding and showing horses in 4-H and United States Pony Club. There was always a menagerie of animals in the household, including cats, dogs, horses, and small mammals! Dr. Craven primarily grew up in the Midwest, where she attended University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for Biochemistry. She was very active in the English equestrian team during her college career. Dr. Craven graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. She completed a rotating equine private practice internship at Bend Equine Medical Center in Bend, Oregon. Her passion lies with internal medicine, including gastroenterology, neurology, and hospitalized patient care, and she completed a 3-year residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She has been working in Western Washington since then, where she enjoyed providing veterinary care to equine, small ruminants, and camelids. She is looking forward to diving back into internal medicine with McKinlay and Peters Equine Hospital. In her spare time, she enjoys trail riding with her two horses, KC, a Morgan/Arabian gelding and Truman, a Haflinger gelding. She is planning to start limited distance endurance riding late this season. She also owns a beloved brown and white tabby cat, Mosby, and Strider, an intelligent English Shepherd puppy.
