McKinlay & Peters Equine Hospital serves horse owners throughout the Inland Northwest, with a primary ambulatory service area extending approximately 40 miles from our Newman Lake and Colbert locations. Within this area, we provide farm calls, wellness care, emergency services, and specialized equine veterinary care.

For clients outside our primary service area, we can often arrange service for larger farms, multiple-horse properties, or coordinated barn days involving several horse owners in the same region. If you're unsure whether your location falls within our service area, please contact our team. We're always happy to discuss options and find the best way to care for your horses.

For clients within our ambulatory service area, we may be able to dispatch a veterinarian directly to your location. Depending on your horse's condition, we may also recommend bringing your horse to our hospital facility for evaluation, diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment. No, McKinlay & Peters Equine Hospital does not perform emergency colic surgery. However, it's important to remember that many cases of colic do not require surgery and can often be successfully managed with prompt medical treatment.

If your horse is showing signs of colic, our veterinary team can provide emergency evaluation and diagnostics either in the field or at our hospital. We will determine the severity of the condition, initiate appropriate treatment, and help you understand your options. We are also a Select Breeders Services (SBS) Affiliate Lab, holding our team to the highest industry standards for semen preparation, handling, evaluation, and storage. From breeding a single mare to managing a stallion or larger breeding program, our team provides advanced reproductive expertise and personalized care.

McKinlay & Peters Equine Hospital commonly recommends shockwave therapy as part of a treatment plan for certain orthopedic and soft tissue injuries, as well as chronic pain conditions that can affect a horse's comfort and performance. Shockwave therapy can be beneficial for some tendon and ligament injuries, back pain, joint-related discomfort, and other musculoskeletal conditions when used as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program.

McKinlay & Peters Equine Hospital accepts cash, checks, major credit cards, and CareCredit. Payment in full is expected at the time of service for ambulatory appointments and outpatient visits.

For horses being admitted for hospitalization, reproductive services, or other planned stays, a deposit is required at the time of admission. The remaining balance is due in full when your horse is discharged from the hospital. If you have questions about payment options or CareCredit financing, our client services team is happy to help.

McKinlay & Peters Equine Hospital requires payment at the time services are rendered. We accept major credit cards, checks, cash, and CareCredit, which can be a helpful financing option for qualifying clients.
